A doctor’s referral is not required to start physiotherapy treatment with Joanna. However, if you are planning on claiming service fees through private insurance, some plans require a doctor’s referral in order to qualify for coverage.
Non-hospital physiotherapy services provided by Designated Physiotherapy Clinics are covered by OHIP for insured persons who have a physician referral and are either:
Aged 65 and older
Aged 19 and younger
Any age and a Long-Term Care Home (LTCH) resident
Any age and in need physiotherapy services in their home (if required to be provided in their home due to their medical condition, illness or injury), or after being hospitalized overnight as an inpatient.
The initial session (75 minutes) is $150. Each 50 minute follow-up session is $130. While physiotherapy sessions are not covered by OHIP, many private insurance plans include this type of coverage. Check with your insurance provider for details. Direct billing to your insurance company is available, or you will be provided with a receipt that may be submitted to your private insurer for reimbursement.
It’s as easy as booking an appointment. Call or text 416-899-0813, or email Joanna to set up an initial visit. The sooner you start, the sooner you’ll start feeling better! A doctor’s referral is not required to start treatment; however, many private insurance plans require this in order to qualify for coverage. See the questions below for more details on this.
Your first session with Joanna is specifically designed to be gentle, so you can gauge your body’s reaction. Be mindful of your body’s response, so any necessary adjustments can be made during the following sessions to tailor treatment.
Depending on your conditions and the treatments used, you may feel a healing reaction, which is your body getting rid of toxic substances. You may have a flare-up of a suppressed or past condition. Not to worry though – this is just the body healing itself. Plenty of fluids and a good night’s rest should clear up any after-effects
Your initial session is 75 minutes and follow-up sessions are 50 minutes. Depending on the treatment program, the number of sessions an individual will need can vary. Improvement is often experienced after one session.
